Faby 10 free nail polish

10-free nail polish is here to save your nails.

First there was 3-free nail lacquer (sans the top three nasty chemicals), then as product developments improved there was 5 and 8-free. Now that number has gone up to 10. Faby has created a formula that is ‘big 10-free’, ridding itself of any potentially problematic substances including Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dybutyl Phtalate (DBP), Camphor, Formaldehyde Resin, Ethil Tosylamide, TPHP, Acetone, Parabens and Lead. Not only have they eliminated all the substances that are considered harmful to people and the environment, all their products are also 100% vegan and free of animal testing, making them practically saintly.

A group shot of Mitoq new skincare range

The final answer to slowing the ageing process?

Seventeen years ago University of Otago scientists were hunting for a way to fight chronic disease and discovered MitoQ. The supplement, which targets our mitochondria (the body’s powerhouse that exists in every one of our cells, which degrades as we age), delivers improved youthful levels of energy to our cells, in short decelerating the ageing process. This game changing ingredient has now been incorporated into MitoQ’s first full line of skincare and combines with other active ingredients such as niacinamide, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and Matrixyl ‘Synthe 6. At present there’s a day serum ($185), day cream ($165), night serum ($190) and night cream ($175), with a MitoQ skin supplement for added cellular support ($139).

A photograph of Maybelline New York Tattoo Brow 3 Day Gel Tint

Maybelline’s new semi-permanent tint for brows that last.

If you’re sick of your daily brow pencil routine but you’re not quite ready for a permanent tattoo, a temporary brow tattoo might be the answer. What started as a kooky Korean beauty craze has now gone mainstream with Maybelline’s Tattoo Brow 3 Day Gel Tint ($24.99), out this weekend. The first of its kind in New Zealand, the product is applied to the brow, left for two hours and then peeled off. The result is a tinted, showerproof, makeup remover-proof brow that will last three days. The packaging also features artwork by aspiring tattoo artist Katie Rose Clausen as part of Maybelline’s Make IT Happen campaign.

Lush new Queen Street Store

A Lush new store.

Natural beauty heroes Lush have recently refurbished their 189 Queen Street store with a bespoke fit out and we’re digging the results. Vintage style basin stations and wrought iron details give the space an industrial feel, and the locally made Fresh range (concocted in their Silverdale kitchen nonetheless) takes centre stage in the entrance way. They’ve also gone the extra mile with a conscious fit out as well, using upcycled rimu taken from demolished Auckland houses for the wooden cabinetry.
