La Mer limited edition Blue Heart 2017 cream

From a training cream for your tush to the affordable designer accessory you need right now, here’s the latest beauty news this week.

La Mer saving our oceans one luxury product at a time.

With kelp a core ingredient of their incredible success story, it’s no surprise that the people at La Mer hold the wellbeing of the ocean dear to their hearts. The sustainably hand-harvested kelp is fermented into the miracle broth that makes up the famous La Mer moisturising cream, and each year for World Ocean Day they celebrate their watery garden with a limited edition Crème de la Mer jar. The highly coveted Blue Heart release ($735 for 100ml) features a wave-like watercolour design and is available now at select counters. This year they’ve also pledged their long-term support for the sea with the launch of the La Mer Blue Heart Ocean’s Fund, supporting marine protected areas and ocean conservation efforts around the globe.

Clarins Body Fit Anti-cellulite Cream

There’s now a cream to ‘coach’ your cellulite to disappear.

Cellulite is a fact of life, no matter how many squats you do or hours on the spin bike. And while working out might help tighten and tone, getting rid of the orange peel texture can prove to be a lot harder. Clarins newly formulated Body Fit Anti-Cellulite Contouring Expert contains quince leaf extract, which ‘coaches’ the adipocytes (when overactive they’re responsible for the formation of cellulite) into regaining normal activity. Applied daily it promises to improve your overall skin tone, so while your PT is making you work in the gym, the skin on your thighs is undergoing their own training session.

Atzen Renew Eye Lift Serum

Apparently viper venom is the new Botox.

So determined are we to wind the clock back on ageing that we go to extreme lengths, experimenting with products and ingredients that technically shouldn’t go anywhere near our faces (blood and electrical currents, anyone?). In what’s promising to be their most powerful eye product yet, Atzen has drawn inspiration from perhaps the deadliest of ingredients – viper venom. The potent Eye Lift Serum contains Syn-ake – a revolutionary product that’s the synthetic recreation of venom (meaning it’s safe and cruelty-free), and behaves the same way as Botox, reducing cell movement to keep the skin smooth and wrinkle free. You can expect to see results in as little as 15 days.

Benefit before and after at their brow bar

Benefit’s new offering lets you pick your brow personality.

So you’ve spent your entire adult life working out the best possible brow shape for your face, and now you’ve got it, you’re sticking to it – and God forbid any beauty therapist who adjusts a few hairs. But with brows being the facial feature du jour, a whole world has opened up and people aren’t content with just one style anymore. That’s right, brow wardrobes have become a thing. Benefit’s new WowBrow styling service offers a menu of four brow looks: feathered, bold and angular, straight or natural. Pick your preferred style and the BrowBar artists will shape, tint and style your brows then show you how to create the look at home.

Tangle Teezer Lulu Guinness

This designer Tangle Teezer is definitely one for the handbag.

British accessories designer Lulu Guinness has again teamed up with Tangle Teezer to create a limited edition brush. This time it’s her iconic doll face playing starring role, with racy red bristles. The brush the professionals prescribe to comb hair with extended locks, the gentle bristles also tame curls, weaves and kids’ hair with ease, making it our pick for a handbag essential this winter. You’ll find it at your nearest pharmacy or department store.

Lewin & Reilly natural organic cruelty free skincare made in New Zealand

5+ a day for your face.

If your ears prick up when you hear the words organic, fair trade, New Zealand made or cruelty-free, you’ll likely fall in love with this brand. From an idyllic spot on Waiheke Island, husband and wife duo Kim and Andi source powerful natural ingredients from New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific and blend them right on the island to create Lewin & Reilly skincare. With extracts such as coconut, kakadu plum and white cypress, the six-product range is highly scented, decadent to apply and packed with vitamins and antioxidants. A FQ favourite is the Zeolite Purity Mask — it’s like a cacao smoothie for your face.
