You may be familiar with 3 free nail polish formulas – those made without “nasty” chemicals dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene and formaldehyde. Now butter LONDON have taken their commitment a few steps further by announcing that all their lacquers are now 7 free.

As an industry leader in the non-toxic nail polish department, butter LONDON was the first brand to develop 3 free formula, which is now considered an industry standard. The updated 7 free formula doesn’t contain any carcinogenic or toxic additives – eliminating formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide and xylene in addition to those already removed.

Many toxic chemicals are used by nail polish companies because they are cheap to produce and are not monitored by the Food and Drug Administration. However, many of the ingredients used are considered extremely hazardous to humans and have been known to cause birth defects, neurological damage and a number of other serious illnesses.

Fans of butter LONDON will be pleased to know, the vibrant hues you know and love still remain the same – they’re now just that much safer to use. Go forth and paint!
