Clarins launches first ever sheet mask – and as expected, it’s next level

Sheet masks are getting bigger and better, the newest one on counters in New Zealand targeting not only your face, but extending beneath your chin and down your neck.  Hugging your face tighter than other sheet masks we’ve tried, Clarins Super Restorative Instant Lift Serum Mask is made of a super stretchy fabric loaded with concentrated gel serum.

With little hooks for your ears to keep the fabric tucked up and taut against your skin, they’re like a little facial in a packet, designed to be left on for 15 minutes for a replenishing, plumping boost of radiance as well as dealing to fine lines.

The price tag is up there at $150 for a pack of five, however they promise they’re packed with effective new lifting and tightening ingredients. After a trial run we can tell you it would certainly give the local courier a fright life if you answered to door with it on, but the results are impressive.

Red alert for limited editions

Beauty lovers, here’s your heads up on how to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dog. Not just feting those who have a lot of love for a cute French Bulldog or Maltese, it’s actually the animal assigned to this coming Chinese New Year by the Chinese Zodiac.

New Year officially begins on February 16 but don’t even think about waiting until then – these special editions with their auspicious red colour schemes are hotly anticipated, and likely to be snapped up will before that.  The celebratory items start dropping on counters from this week.

Gal Gadot for Revlon and Emily Ratajkowski for Kerastase

A-list actresses front for beauty brands

A-listers Gal Gadot and Emily Ratajkowski have undeniably become box-office drawcards in recent years but the two actresses clearly have pulling power in the beauty world too, with the pair nabbing lucrative contracts with two global brands.

This week brings the announcements Gadot has become Revlon’s newest ambassador, while Kerastase has chosen Ratajkowski to be the new face (or hair) of the brand.

Revlon chose Gadot to front its Live Boldly campaign, aiming to inspire women to “to express themselves with passion, optimism, strength and style”. Gadot referred to the company as a ‘champion of women’ in a statement. “There’s a cultural shift happening, which Revlon celebrates, where feminine power is recognised, and I’m so proud that I get to witness and live this amazing change.”

Ratajkowski was similarly effusive about her new position with Kerastase.

“I consider my hair a reflection of my inner strength. It’s not an ornament but a way to convey and empower myself. I think that’s true for all women. There’s such an empowering femininity to hair. That’s why they deserve the best care.”
