For The Aromatherapy Company spring is already here……

Very few beauty companies are celebrating growth in these recessionary times. However, The Aromatherapy Company are, and I can understand why.Perhaps it’s their gorgeous offering of well-priced candles, hand creams and heavenly scented body washes, for both you and your family. Or it could be the dynamo behind the brand Aucklander Sarah Townsend, who I meet this week at an intimate lunch in her home for the beauty media to introduce spring summer and Christmas collections.Townsend has taken her 23-year-old home fragrance and body care business, quietly from a cottage industry Kiwi-based company to retailers like David Jones across the ditch, and further afield to high end stores in Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, South Africa Middle East and the US. Her focus is always to make pure, natural body and home care products that women of all ages will fill their bathrooms with every month. Yes, her gorgeous products are free from parabens, sodium laurel sulphates and mineral oils. And, unlike most well-priced smellies you find in stores today they are also free from artificial fragrance (only pure essential oils, are used to create the fragrances in the ranges on offer). And there is something for every taste. From pretty and fruity body washes In Fiesta to the most-clever lavender and citronella candle in the new Garden range – I am hooked. Check out the full range of her products and prices at

My favourite is the Therapy range, which we got to try at the lunch, including the Rosehip Wand, a clever oil wand for keeping skin well-hydrated in the cold. I also love the vitamin E Cuticle Oil – the perfect handbag size – and the lavender and bees wax Healing Balm for dry spots anywhere.
