Angelina Jolie takes us inside her Cambodian home for new Mon Guerlain fragrance campaign

If you love French fragrance Mon Guerlain, you’ll certainly love this new interpretation.

Wrapped in silky sheets, with the tropical rain pouring down outside, Angelina Jolie is candid and carefree in the latest campaign for Mon Guerlain’s new fragrance, Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense.

And it’s any wonder she appears so relaxed; the campaign was shot at the actor and humanitarian’s own home in Asia, amid the tropical forest surroundings of remote Northwestern Cambodia which she describes as a corner of the world in which she feels alive, and her property there as the home that is most personal to her.

“I feel at home in the jungle. There are so many beautiful scents and flowers that you only find here. There’s jasmine everywhere. But most of all there are the unique sounds of the rainforest. You wake up and you hear that it is alive,” she says in the press release.


The 44-year-old has been linked to the French beauty house since 2017, appearing as the face of earlier iterations of the fragrance, including Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose.

Eau de Parfum Intense is the fifth iteration of Mon Guerlain and is an empowering and vibrant scent, inspired by and created for women who are comfortable in their own skin.

As a multifaceted symbol of femininity, Angelina is once again perfectly cast. In the short film, directed by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki, she unapologetically bares her own skin, revealing her many tattoos which speak to the stories of her past, including her intricate back tattoos and the coordinates on her upper arm indicating where each of her six children were born.

The soundtrack to the campaign is The Troggs’ smash hit ‘Wild Thing’ – but in a little known familial twist, this song was originally penned by Angelina’s paternal uncle, Chip Taylor who recorded it with New York group The Wild Ones prior to The Troggs in 1965.

In the same way femininity is unique and multi-faceted, Mon Guerlain’s various fragrance compositions are blended with a different set of ingredients which give them each a unique personality.

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense includes the same lavender, Tahitian vanilla and sandalwood notes found in earlier versions, but with additional notes of bergamot, jasmine sambac, iris, rose, mandarin orange, licorice, patchouli, benzoin and courmarin which gives it a bold, seductive statement-giving edge with sweet undertones.

Perfumers Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk have designed the fragrance to reveals itself differently on each and every individual, another nod to the varying degrees of complexity of the female spirit, which tenderly balances resilience and strength with nurturing and softness in day-to-day life.

Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum Intense has just launched worldwide and is available at department stores including Smith & Caughey’s, David Jones and Ballantynes from 16 September 2019, but the previous versions are widely available.
