Australian beauty Lara Worthington (formerly Bingle) has been inspiring The Big Chop since she lopped off her blonde lob to a jawline-length bob in August 2014, and her latest look could see her creating a whole new movement towards chic and short hairstyles.

Last week, the model and entrepreneur went through yet another hair transformation, cutting her coveted bob into a sleek pixie crop, with her hair stylist, Travis Balcke, telling ELLE Australia it was the right time for Lara to embark on this bold new look.

“Right now, she’s the sexiest she has ever looked – she’s confident and happy, so I thought she could pull off something really short,” he explains.

Whilst working on a shoot together, Lara and Travis were searching for images of the perfect pixie ‘do, before Balcke decided to simply take matters into his own hands and go for it.

“The back and sides are like a pixie cut – short, choppy texture,” says Balcke of his technique. “Then there’s graduation on the top to maintain some length and keep it feminine. It’s still versatile – she needs that for what she does for a living, but it shows off her neck and cheekbones so beautifully.”

If you’re thinking of taking the plunge like Lara, Balcke insists you need an oval-shaped face as well as a great neck and chin, along with confidence to rock the daring ‘do. “Have all of those and it can work like contouring without makeup,” he says.
