When it comes to skincare and make-up, the trend is to go easy – think less is more with a hint of highlight.
Cosmetic researchers are racing to make skincare and make-up that melts onto skin, leaving a light-as-air, brightening finish. With everything from aerated cushion foundations to liquid-light serums, sunscreen and highlighting primers, they hope to satisfy our desire for dewy, breathable, luminous-looking skin – the biggest trend in beauty right now.
MAC Senior Vice President of Global Artist Training, Gordon Espinet, believes “One of the mistakes people make with foundation is that they want to block out the skin completely”. MAC Studio Waterweight Foundation corrects imperfections while still allowing natural skin to be seen. “The finish resembles athletic skin … it has a nice sheen to it,” he says.
Ralph Lauren, Isabel Marant and Jason Wu all sent models down their Spring 2015 runways with sheer, freshly highlighted skin. In shades from gold to blush, getting a glow on just got easy.
TIP: Use luminosity products on your cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupid’s bow. Avoid T-zone areas, such as forehead and chin – a dusting of light powder will give a semi-matte finish here.
