Mud, clay and charcoal are powerful detoxifiers that draw out impurities, absorb excess oil and deliver valuable minerals to repair skin and hair. ‘Activated’ charcoal is the beauty ingredient du jour, explains Clinique education manager Tracey Pedersen. “Charcoal draws toxins to the surface of the skin, helping it to clear more quickly,” she explains. Mud and clay products, on the other hand, replenish lost minerals and increase hydration.
