Q&A with Masterchef Nadia Lim

The MasterChef winner and My Kitchen Rules NZ judge is in the NEXT hot seat

Top of my bucket list is…
Visiting the part of China where my grandmother came from. I wanted to do this with my dad but unfortunately he passed away before we could.
The website I can’t resist checking is…
To be honest, my own (www.nadialim.com)! I’m constantly uploading new recipes and answering Facebook questions.
My ultimate dinner party guest would be…
Jamie Oliver. I know it’s a cliché for a cook to say this, but he’s one of the main reasons I’m doing what I’m doing today. Plus I had a crush on him when I was 14. I cried when he married Jools; it took me weeks to get over it!
If I was brave enough, I would…
Do a bungy jump… I just can’t bring myself to do it though. I would much rather jump out of a plane – which doesn’t seem very logical!
In my handbag right now…
A letter from a 11-year-old girl, saying, “I like you because you’re different to all the judges on MKR, because you like healthy food and you’re always kind to the cooks on MKR.” The girl and her mother dropped it off to me!
My advice to my younger self…
Believe you are talented and you do have something useful to offer.
My one desert island luxury…
A shower! And avocados… so I could continue to have avocado, banana and pineapple smoothies every morning! (I assume you’d find bananas and pineapple on the island?)
The best thing about summer…
All you need is shorts, a T-shirt and Jandals.

My most cringeworthy moment…
When I was a rookie in the land of live cooking on TV, I had a mishap where the chocolate mousse I made ended up looking like vomit! You can’t do anything when it’s on live TV though… except laugh!
My hidden talent…
Parallel parking. Passengers always comment on how good I am!
