Fashion Quarterly road trip with Holden Cascada

Hold on to your hats, slip on your driving gloves and slather on your sunscreen – we’re going on a road trip!

Fashion Quarterly editor Sally-Ann Mullin and creative director Marcel Gull are hitting the road this March in Holden’s Cascada convertible – the only car a fashion crew would be seen in – en route to Dunedin’s 18th iD Fashion Week.

They’ll be driving, reporting and listening to 80s beats from their cool mobile office, which is, of course, fashionably black inside and out. From this chic car, the creative duo will give video updates, conduct designer interviews and make predictions about who will win the emerging designer award. This stylish team might never come back to the office!

With the Cascada’s top down, Sally-Ann will have all the wind protection she needs in her retro-cool Stolen Girlfriend’s Club leather biker jacket, Maison Labiche white tee from Fabric and her 50s-style tortoiseshell shades from Karen Walker’s new Transformers eyewear collection. The wind won’t bother her skin either; Sephora’s Coconut Moisturizing hand cream will keep her hands flawless and protected, and for lips the 50s theme is kept alive with MAC’s Helmut Newton Retro Matte Liquid Lip in High Heels.

Travelling shouldn’t compromise organisation and so all fashion notes will be filed in her Louis Vuitton monogrammed compendium. Moreover, her phone is protected (and easily identified) thanks to The Daily Edited monogrammed phone case and parking will be taken care of via her Yu Mei monogrammed coin purse. For the night out after the fashion shows, Frederic Malle’s Carnal Flower fragrance will enchant even the fashion weary and for a little evening sass, a pink envelope Louis Vuitton clutch and a pair Valentino Rockstud heels does the trick. She won’t forget the keys to her Holden Cascada with her standout Creeps and Violets keychain!

Meanwhile, Marcel’s prepared to take the wheel with his butter-soft leather Prada driving gloves. And he’ll be a sweet-smelling driving companion with his Wrigley’s P.K. gum and Bottega Veneta Pour Homme cologne – a long lasting scent with leathery notes. The wind and sun his skin will be exposed to by the Cascada’s drop-top won’t be a bother – he’ll be protected with Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Sunblock and a dapper cream straw hat by Hills Hats.

He’ll be keeping a log book with the vintage Hermès compendium and watching the hours go by with a leather watch by Cartier. Staying in touch on the road is a must, and with his The Daily Edited-covered iPhone he won’t be missing any calls. For evenings out and about in Dunedin, a jacket by Scotch & Soda will ensure entry to all those after-show soirees. Marcel’s fingers are always on the fashion pulse; fitting then, they’ll be stylishly adorned with rings by Zoe & Morgan.

Now they’ve packed their road trip essentials, it’s time to go. Watch as Marcel designs the FQ decal ahead of iD Fashion Week:
