Any fashion designer who can count themselves lucky enough to have Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, step out in their designs will know the powerful pull she has on consumers, with almost everything she touches appearing to sell out almost immediately in what has been dubbed the ‘Meghan Markle Effect’.
The Duchess arrived in New Zealand on October 28 (with husband Prince Harry in tow, of course), and in the lead-up, we were positively brimming with excitement about which Kiwi designers Meghan and her stylist would bestow their blessings on (spoiler: some of the team nearly got it right!)
An endorsement by Meghan would be a momentous occasion for any fashion designer, whether they’re a seasoned pro or one of the new generation, since the global media spotlight will be shining so brightly on the Duchess and chronicling every sartorial step she makes.
