This week a little app called Instagram turned five years old. In those five years, we can almost guarantee the following: that you have found your favourite (and most flattering) filter; spent more time than you’d care to admit deliberating whether you should switch to white borders or not; worked out your best selfie angle; and wasted countless, countless hours trying to crop your photos into that restrictive Instagram square.
Luckily for us, Instagram has changed a lot since its launch in 2010 (No more squares! Video! Photo-editing apps!) and has gone on to become one of the most beloved social media platforms. Used by approximately 400 million users, Instagram averages more than 80 million image uploads and 3.5 billion ‘likes’ per day.
To celebrate this five-year milestone, Instagram has released the top 5 most popular photos of all time…
1. Kendall Jenner showed us what a good old-fashioned sibling rivalry looks like in 2015, when this image of her heart-shaped hair overtook sister Kim Kardashian’s photo as the most liked photo of all time on Instagram (May 25, 2015)
2. There’s clearly no longer bad blood between Taylor Swift and Kanye West as a photo of her posing with flowers sent by the rapper made the number two spot (Sept. 4, 2015).

3. Taylor also made the number three spot, with this rather adorable picture of her and beau Calvin Harris holidaying in Rhode Island for the Fourth of July (July 3, 2015).
4. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding day was at one time a record-breaking photo… (May 27, 2014).
