Suffragettes were the theme of Karen Walker’s collection for Fall 2014, with empowered women adorned with placards marching down the runway at New York Fashion Week this morning.

“Young, Willing and Eager” and “Liberal, Miserable and Cynical” – slogans that have featured in past Karen Walker campaigns – were stamped on sweatshirts and bags, and fighting angles were entangled on a monochrome print.

Black turtle necks layered under tops and shift dresses referenced a definite mod aesthetic, while ruffled neck lines and full skirts tapped into the Victorian theme Karen Walker has been playing with over the past few seasons.

It wouldn’t be a Karen Walker collection without a handful of statement prints – in particular a pattern tiled with tools, hands and broken hearts, as well as a rich orange and blue floral.
