For her latest release, footwear designer Kathryn Wilson has drawn inspiration from an unusual source – BB cream. The new mum has collaborated with Garnier BB Cream for the BB Ballet flat, a timeless classic for women of all ages.
Can you talk about the shoe?
The shoe we’ve done for them is a classic ballet shoe. They’ve called it the BB Ballerina, and it’s the first shoe we ever designed actually, back in 2003 when I launched the business. So it’s considered a staple classic in every woman’s wardrobe. It’s in the beautiful nude tone of the BB cream. The idea is [the BB cream] is a handbag essential that you keep and use every day. The ballet shoes are the same thing – you keep them in your wardrobe as a timeless classic.
They’re the perfect neutral nude tone, so the idea is you can wear them with denim or a black dress or any pastel colours throughout the year.
What drew you to the Garnier BB Cream?
Well, I’ve just had a little baby in January, so I’m quite time-poor at the moment. I love the fact that it’s a one-stop product that gives me a nice amount of coverage in the summer as well as the SPF. On the days that I don’t feel like wearing a full face of makeup it’s enough to make me look better to leave the house.
What’s your regular beauty regimen?
If I’m in the office and having two hours of meetings it’s different. But at the moment being home all day, that BB cream is the perfect product. I feel I can leave the house, or if someone pops in I feel presentable.
My skin was really good over the pregnancy which was lucky, I just have to keep it a bit more hydrated. Now that I’m breast feeding I’m just making sure that I’m using a really good day moisturiser and then the BB cream.
