If you’re going to watch one thing today, let it be the Gucci Spring Summer 2019 campaign

Celebrating the Golden Age and Hollywood glamour, Gucci has released its Spring Summer 2019 campaign and suffice to say we’re captivated.

Shot and directed by Glen Luchford, the Gucci Spring Summer 2019 campaign draws inspiration from iconic films such as An American in Paris (1951), The Band Wagon (1953), Cover Girl (1944), There’s No Business Like Show Business (1954), Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) and Singin’ in the Rain (1952).

We’re talking theatrics, dance numbers, technicolour imagery and performers from every walk of life peppered with glitz and glamour synonymous with the era.

The film “pays homage to this famous genre as we see characters dressed in Gucci tap dance, sing and perform synchronised dance routines reminiscent of the work of the exuberant musical choreography of that time,” according to their press release.

The soundtrack is “There’s No Business Like Show Business”, the song by Irving Berlin written for the musical Annie Get Your Gun and made famous by Ethel Merman in the film of the same name.

The accompanying campaign imagery are also given the silver screen treatment and shot in black and white with dramatic lighting in the style of the many famous movie star portraits in the 30s and 40s.

Well, that’s our mood for the weekend sorted!
