According to Paris Fashion Week street style, these are the trends to adopt for 2019

As high-shine tailoring, ladylike layering and leather detailing sashay the Parisian streets en masse, could this mark the end of — or at least a deviation from — normcore as we know it?

With only trace elements of athleisure in sight, it seems ultra-feminine dressing has returned to the French capital, this time with a vintage infusion.

Warm hues of beige, tan, caramel and copper are prominent, as are weighty knit sweaters, contemporary trench coats and snakeskin prints. Leather-look black trousers are a foundation piece alongside off-white slouch boots (alas, they have indeed returned). Textures remain a focal point with upholstery-esque weights offset by delicate draping, while glossy down jackets – think Moncler – and touches of Tibetan lambswool add practical warmth to withstand the crisp Parisian winds. (Of course, they make cold look chic!)

Blackout sunglasses and top-handled bags are the accessories of choice, while – unsurprisingly – gold seems to be consistently favoured across the board for hardware (buckles, straps, closures and even jewellery) to further the warmth of the ’70s colour palette.
