It’s a dream team collaboration.
Following on from their successful collection of 100 hand painted fridges, Italian designer Dolce & Gabbana and appliance brand Smeg have joined forces yet again to bring a collection of ornate small kitchen appliances to the world.
The collection, which is aptly named ‘Sicily is my true love’, comprises a toaster, citrus juicer, coffee machine, kettle, blender, stand mixer and a slow juicer. All items are made in Italy in line with Dolce & Gabbana’s concept to paint an Italian story to the world.
More specifically, Italian folklore is represented in the designs with each celebrating aspects of Sicilian food and culture including lemons, pears, and cherries.
Triangle motifs known as crocchi, friezes, acanthus leaves, and the Sicilian volcano Mount Etna, all delicately dance across the surface. While their functionality, in reality, is that of a kitchen tool, they are unequivocally a work of art.

The appliance prices are yet to be confirmed, however, based off what the Dolce & Gabbana x Smeg fridges retailed for (which was around $48,500 NZD), it’s safe to assume the goods will be priced at a level worthy of the designer brand and its high-end appliance collaborators.
While a sneak peek was revealed to the world by Dolce & Gabbana last year, the range is now available to pre-order from Neiman Marcus, with shipping to New Zealand currently unavailable.
Here’s hoping a selection will eventually be available to purchase in New Zealand via Smeg.
