“Sorry, it took us so long.”
You may have heard the name Reformation before. Not only is the LA-based brand Insta-famous but it’s reached cult status after creating too-cute-to-say-no-to clothing worn regularly by the likes of Selena Gomez, Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski. And while their status as an It-girl label is something to brag about, what’s more important is the label’s stance on sustainability and body inclusivity.
Designed in-house, all clothes are made from sustainable plant-based fibres like tencel and modal, rescued deadstock fabric and repurposed vintage clothing. Alongside this, the brand also regularly promotes the best environmentally-friendly way to care for your fabrics, all while remaining energy efficient and planting forests to offset emissions from their factory. Their slogan, after all, is: “Being naked is the #1 most sustainable option. We’re #2.”
Now, this sassy, smart brand is leading the way in another area of the fashion industry by introducing a collection that includes a wide range of plus sizes. The brand announced the range via correspondence to their customers, saying: “For the last year or so we’ve been receiving a lot of comments and requests for more inclusive sizing – and rightly so. It’s obviously unfair that we’ve only been offering clothing to a limited size range.”
Created in collaboration with model Ali Tate Cutler, the collection is available in sizes 0-22 (which is essentially an XS to 3XL). Staple items include a range of feminine dresses, a slick bodysuit, form-fitting tops and two-piece sets.
While the collection is currently only a limited edition range, according to Elle the brand has said that this is “the first step towards fully launching into the category and they will continue to fine-tune the fit as they get feedback from their customers.”
In the past, Reformation has also led the way in customising fits by including a collection of petite clothing, a babies range and “I’m Up Here” – a selection of styles for females with bustier chests – in their online store.
This step in size inclusivity leaves us hopeful that more brands will adopt this ethos and maintain a variety of sizes in their designs.
Reformation ships to New Zealand and this collection will sell out fast, so get in quick!
