As we gear up for Labour Weekend, Miss FQ has compiled the top charting albums you can kick back to all weekend long, whether road tripping or otherwise… oh, and we’ve got the style picks to match.

Foo Fighters: Concrete and Gold

Foo Fighters dropped their ninth studio album Concrete and Gold in September, and while our style prompts from the album are relatively obvious, teaming grey and black with gold is a timeless combination to achieve an edgy, glam and effortlessly intimidating outfit. You know… so no one bothers you on your days off. The album features tracks ‘T-Shirt’ and ‘Sunday Rain’ so our item choices below are rather fitting, don’t you think? Oh, and we’re choosing to interpret the reference to rain as the “making-it-rain” kind of rain, not literal rain. Fingers crossed there is no actual Sunday rain this long weekend!

Ed Sheeran: Divide ÷

Divide is the third album from UK sweetheart Ed Sheeran, and has been drip-feeding us banger after banger throughout 2017. Although his album has been out since March, it seems New Zealanders are still playing it on repeat securing it a top spot in the charts nearly eight months later. We’ve taken the Divide artwork and translated it into the notorious colour-blocking of black-and-blue. Once deemed an absolute no-no, this combination is fresher than ever.  As far as we’re concerned, 2017 calls for an anything-goes approach, and when looking at hues, we’re all about black and blues. FQ Labour Weekend edit - Ed Sheeran, Divide

Lorde: Melodrama

Since her debut album Pure Heroine catapulted her to fame in 2013, Lorde in all of her glory more or less went off the radar for the better part of 2016 leaving us in an irritable state of anticipation for her second album. But good things take time and when she released Melodrama in June 2017 our obsession was rekindled with the embers still burning up the charts today. In keeping with the same emotions laid out on the tracks, sensational and OTT is the style theme here. We’ve chosen items that play up this mood with exaggerated sleeves, ruffles, prints, and volume. This is the edit you want to be across if you’ve got a formal occasion coming up and you’re in the mood to turn (many) heads.

Khalid: American Teen

Wind back the clock with this nostalgic edit inspired by Khalid’s debut album, American Teen. An unquestionably laid-back listen, Khalid sings about the joys of being a teenager, having fun with friends, partying and graduating from high school. Feel the weight of adulthood lift off your shoulders and go back to school with this dreamy edit of fresh white and silver knits, crisp cotton and uber-chilled denim to match. We’ve harnessed the varsity essence by opting for button down V-neck cardigans, alternative hats, and lush cushion-y soles.

Miley Cyrus: Younger Now

Before you turn up your nose, it’s imperative you fully grasp Miley’s latest reinvention that nods back to her country roots. Gone are the days of twerking, shocking on-stage antics and dance-electronic tracks. Younger Now the album depicts songs of love and heartbreak to catchy and uplifting scores. But sentiments aside, the music video for single ‘Younger Now’ sees Miley fully-absorbed in the embellished and charming era of Elvis Presley and takes the runway trends of Americana seen at New York Fashion Week to new heights. So, polish the boots, break out the leather jacket, flick on your denim cut-offs and clash with your most dramatic jewelry and accessories for ultimate western-chic sensibility. Yee-haw!
