The new season RUBY outfits the Miss FQ team are digging right now, with the new KitKat Ruby

Just when you thought your favourite KitKat chocolate bar couldn’t get any better, there’s a new variety in town with ruby (yep, pink) cocoa beans!

If you’ve never heard of ruby cocoa beans before, you’re not alone. We were intrigued to hear ruby chocolate (the fourth type of chocolate after milk, dark and white) is made from specially selected cocoa beans found in major cocoa-growing regions, including Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Brazil.  They’re specially processed to unlock the pink colour tone that is naturally found in the beans along with the unique berry-fruity flavour and super smooth texture. Basically, it has our names written all over it!

After international success, the limited release KitKat Ruby is now coming to New Zealand – so teaming up with local fashion label RUBY was obviously a no-brainer!

To celebrate its arrival, we thought there was no better time for the Miss FQ team to share their favourite pieces from the latest RUBY collection that are fit for any occasion, whether working day or out of office. Plus, we share our best break tips to make sure you are being smart about yours – because, of course, what’s a break without a KitKat, right?

Miss FQ fashion editor Danielle Clausen wears the Rooftop sweater and Rooftop trackpants

What made this RUBY outfit your pick of the new season?
Comfort is key! This combo made me feel super cosy and relaxed without sacrificing on style.

How do you usually spend your break times at work?
My role is so varied it depends where I am that day… if I’m on a location shoot I’ll spend my break having lunch whilst chatting to the rest of the creative team. If I’m in the office, my ‘work wife’ and I might go for a stroll down the road to get treats and some fresh air. If I’m out and about sourcing clothing samples for shoots, break time might mean getting to try out a café in a new suburb in between pickups.

What is your best tip for using your break times constructively?
If I’m having an extra hectic day, I love to slip away to an express yoga class. I try to make it along at least once a week and always feel so much calmer after the session. It’s amazing how much of a difference re-focusing on breath and the present makes for my mood. #Namaste.

What did you think of the new KitKat Ruby chocolate?
I don’t eat chocolate too often, but when I do, I want to ensure it comes from an eco-friendly and responsible source. KitKat Ruby is made with 100% sustainable cocoa and manufactured using UTZ-certified cocoa beans.

Miss FQ digital content producer Maxine Fourie wears the Georgie Top and Stevie Jean

What made this RUBY outfit your pick of the new season?
I was drawn to this outfit because I am a fan of simple and easy dressing. I loved the cut of the Stevie jeans and felt that the cropped flare was a really chic take on an everyday classic – so they’re dressy enough for work, but also can be styled casually out of the office also. The Georgie Top caught my eye because I loved the colour combo! I’m a massive fan of gingham and loved the print combined with the feminine cut.

How do you usually spend your break times at work?
My break generally consists of heading to the gym – I pop over the road to do a quick burn and feel so much more productive after; it’s amazing what just a little bit of exercise can do for you! On my rest day, I meet my partner for a lunch-date picnic in nearby Victoria Park and truth be told, we overindulge in delicious food! I find that getting out and about really helps to refresh my mind and resets my productivity levels.

What is your best tip for using your break times constructively?
My best tip for making the most of using your lunch break is to actually use the full hour and make it your time to recharge and reconnect. I recently heard a piece of advice that said “give the best hour of the day to yourself” and since then, I’ve been trying to practice it.

It’s so easy to get caught up in unread emails and a never-ending to-do list that we often forget to take some time to check in with ourselves, drink water and re-gather our thoughts. Using your lunch break is a perfect way to do so and I find it makes me more productive and energised whether it’s done by relaxing outside, exercising or meeting someone for lunch. Go out of office and stick to it!

What did you think of the new KitKat Ruby chocolate?
As a self-confessed sweet tooth, I’m very particular about chocolate! I loved how this tasted so different to dark, milk and white chocolate – this “fourth” type of natural chocolate is sweeter, with a bit of an edge.

Miss FQ commercial brand manager Courtney Ramsdale wears the Alma satin cami, Alma tie pant and Alexia blazer

What made this RUBY outfit your pick of the new season?
I’m loving matching sets at the moment, and the Alma cami and pants are such a wearable version of this trend. They’re easy to dress up or down, perfect for work but also suitable for evening – a fabulous day-to-night outfit! The blazer is warm and cosy, but also chic. I love the tie waist as it creates shape. This outfit makes me feel like a girl boss!

How do you usually spend your break times at work?
When I’m not running errands or doing life admin, I try to attend reformer pilates classes at least once or twice a week. It’s a good way to reset myself, take some me-time and get my exercise out of the way (I’m terrible at getting up early for exercise so I prefer to use my break for this!). The great thing about it is that you don’t get too hot and sweaty so your hair and makeup stays intact, and the 45-minute classes mean that you can leave and be back at your desk within the hour! I’m loving Core Collective in City Works Depot at the moment.

What is your best tip for using your break times constructively?
I like using my lunch break for running errands and doing general life admin. Getting it all out of the way while I’m in work-mode helps me feel on top of things! This allows me to properly relax in the evenings and weekends, as I’ve already ticked the more mundane tasks off my list.

What did you think of the new KitKat Ruby chocolate?
I’m definitely a big fan! I am all about balance in all areas of my life, so try to eat well most of the time, which means I can indulge in treats here and there. Plus, it’s pink – and who doesn’t love that?!

Miss FQ video editor Melissa Tapper wears the Otto turtleneck and Lee silk miniskirt

What made this RUBY outfit your pick of the new season?
I loved the amethyst colour of the turtleneck and the woollen blend made it super comfortable to wear. The red, black and purple colour scheme in the silk skirt made the outfit tie together perfectly.

How do you usually spend your break times at work?
I like to take time out of my busy to-do list by spending half an hour outside reading a book. I find getting even just a little bit of sun and fresh air always helps to wake me up and de-stress, plus there’s nothing more relaxing than getting stuck into a good book.

What is your best tip for using your break times constructively?
I try to get outside for at least ten minutes each day – I tend to feel agitated if I stay cooped up indoors. If I don’t have time to read, even just walking up the road for coffee helps me to feel ready to take on whatever I need to achieve that day.

What did you think of the new KitKat Ruby chocolate?
It’s pretty unique – the pink colour and berry flavour makes it really different to anything else I can pick up in the office snack machine. Plus, it’s oh-so-Instagrammable – as a videographer I can’t help thinking of the visual aspect!
