What’s your role at Fashion Quarterly?
Senior Art Director for both Fashion Quarterly and Miss FQ.
What will your focus be at NZFW?
Taking it all in! This will be my first fashion week as media so I’m looking forward to seeing all the inspiration on the runway – and off it. I love street style too so I’ll be keeping an eye out to see what people will be putting together as they will very likely end up on the pages of FQ and Miss FQ!
When did you attend your first NZFW and what’s your standout memory from it?
I have only been to a couple of shows before when I was much younger, and I just remember it all being so amazing and full on, but what really stood out was the environment of it all. So many people everywhere!
What for you has been the ultimate NZFW show/collection?
I loved the Harman Grubiša AW17 show as every item in the collection, I wanted sitting in my wardrobe.
What show(s) are you most looking forward to this year?
I am really looking forward to seeing Stolen Girlfriends Club. In the past they have always really done some cool collections that I have admired. I am also really looking forward to seeing brands that I don’t know well; Jarrad Godman, Hej Hej – this is where you can see some really amazing talent come through.
What trends are you hoping to see in the AW18 collections?
I am really looking forward to seeing more layering as we come out of winter and into the transitional season. I am also really looking for more block colour. I love colour and would love to see more of it on the runway.
What’s something that people don’t know about attending NZFW?
You tell me! I have only ever been to one or two shows so this will all be new to me!
What’s your key to surviving the week?
Since this is my first full week, I will just try and pace myself and not get too burnt out. But as long as you have a secret stash of Panadol, water and a banana then you should be all good!
What ensembles will we be seeing you in/what’s your NZFW style?
TBH I really am still trying to figure out my style. I have always been someone who loves comfort but I do like trying new things. I have recently bought some new items so I will definitely be mixing them into my wardrobe. Think white jeans, with a grey coat or a denim ripped jacket with the possibility of heels or converse sneakers (and very little jewellery!)
What song will have you chair dancing like no other?
Prince – Kiss. Can’t go past a classic!
