How to recreate the Hamptons-inspired ponytail from the FQ Summer Party

Your guide to summer's hottest trends from the FQ Summer Party 2018 | Lookbook

Inspired by balmy evenings lazing poolside in the Hamptons, Cloud Nine/EVO ambassador Lauren Gunn transformed our FQ Summer Party models by way of preppy, polished ponytails fit for a garden party.

The models waltzed through the venue with their silky smooth strands swept into tousled ponytails neatly wrapped with oversized bows — a key trend for the season. Adding just the right amount of ease and carefreeness to an otherwise formal style, this twist on the traditional ponytail is set to be the go-to for It-girls this summer.

Read on for your step by step guide to recreate the look:

What you’ll need:

EVO Root Canal, $39.50; EVO Salty Dog, $39.50; EVO Day of Grace, $39.50; EVO Builder’s Paradise, $35.90. Stockists: Colleen; M11

Step One:

Prep the roots of your hair with EVO Root Canal Volumising Spray and blow-dry in some volume. Use EVO Salty Dog Salt Spray on dry hair to add texture around your face and through the top layers.

Step Two:

Pull your hair straight back from your face into a ponytail at the back, it should be sitting level with your ears and the tip of your nose.

Step Three:

Hydrate your ponytail with EVO Day of Grace Pre-Style Primer and use the Cloud Nine Original Wand ($375) to get some movement in the ponytail and smooth out any frizz.

Step Four:

Now tie a bow on it! We sprayed our ribbons with Crisp Spray Starch to make them perky and preppy. Tip: Use EVO Builder’s Paradise Spray to hold your look. It has the benefits of hairspray but attributes of a styling product which reactivates with heat for styling.

Alternative ending:

Don’t have the length for a ponytail? You can still channel this look by working your top section into a smaller rendition. Tip: Try using a smaller bow or ribbon so you don’t overwhelm your hair.
