You’re cordially invited the Royal Wedding… pop-up bar edition, that is.
With an interior reminiscent of the St. George’s Chapel including a replica hand-carved ceiling, heraldic flags, faux stained-glass windows, and a Buckingham inspired throne room, you can experience the royal reception on bride Meghan Markle’s national soil at a pub in Washington D.C.
Facilitated by Drink Company (and amateurs they are not), creative lead Matt Fox even tracked down the official British flagmaker for detailed replicas of all features concerned, right down to the crowns, sceptres, and robes.
“It’s hard not to get swept up in the romance of a royal wedding, especially when it involves a modern, real-life fairytale,” says Angie Fetherston, CEO of the Drink Company.
“I’ve been a superfan of the royals since I was a kid and knew as soon as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were engaged that we had to bring a slice of their day to all of the fans who want to experience a little bit of the fantasy — fascinators and all.”
“We want people to feel like they’re a part of this amazing day that celebrates love around the world,” Fetherston added.

What can you expect?
Very, very intense levels of detail right down to the food and beverage.
Lemon and elderflower wedding cake you say? You can bet your Markle Sparkle there’ll be an exact replica on offer. (Markle Sparkle = the springtime spritzer in an ode to the American princess containing touches of edible glitter, rose cider, aperol and sparkling water – yum!).

Or perhaps you consider yourself less of a Meghan Markle and more of a Queen Elizabeth? Look to head barman Paul Taylor’s ‘God Save the Queen’ cocktail to celebrate the big day, with a martini crafted from her majesty’s favourite Beefeater gin of course.
And if that’s not enough to have you book a flight to the US capital, there’s also a ‘When Harry Met Meghan’ scotch drink with Kings Ginger liqueur served in a commemorative mug for the royal wedding, or a ‘Strawberry Cuppa’: complete with a speciality teacup and shortbread cookies to mimic a tea service in England. (How posh?!)
“In England, they love their commemorative plates, mugs, all sorts of things,” Fetherston said.
Still need convincing? (Of course, you don’t.)
You can even send the newlyweds a congratulatory token. Just pop your letter into the special mailbox at the bar and the British Embassy will kindly have it transported to Kensington Palace for you.
While the day of the wedding, May 19, is reserved for ticketed guests, you can sleep easy knowing that the proceeds from the event will go to The Invictus Games Foundation, a sporting event for wounded service members and veterans that was created by His Royal Highness Prince Harry himself. You know, that one where Meghan wore that cute white shirt, ripped jean combo for their first public appearance as a couple?
The pop-up will operate from Friday 4 May to Sunday 20 May.
