What is an essence and do I need one?

What exactly is an essence? Is it like a toner?
Some people often compare an essence to a toner, but essences have a much more advanced formulation than a toner. Toners prepare the skin by returning it to a neutral PH balance, essences however prepare the skin for a serums, by opening the pathways in the skin for deeper penetration of the active ingredients. Essences are filled with concentrated active ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins and hydrating benefits.

What is it like and what does it do?
Different types of essences, depending on the formula, will specifically target your concerns and help you achieve the results you are after. They can be used in place of a light serum or in combination, to help boost your serum and enhance the benefits and results.
